Take one step into Kosuge and you’ll see symbols that look like hieroglyphics everywhere (on signs, t-shirts, etc.). Since pottery and stone tools from the Middle Jomon Period (2500-1500 B.C.) have been excavated here, we know people have enjoyed a life in Kosuge as a safe haven since ancient times. These symbols represent the images of daily life in Kosuge:
The sunrise
Twittering birds
The flowing Tama River headwaters
Trout swimming in the river
Sprouting vegetation
The moon shinning brilliantly at night
When you visit Kosuge, why not also think of the ancient people who shared this daily imagery?
